Press Release April 14, 2025:
CISF Announces Continued Partnership with Lila Delman Compass for Free Community Sailing this Summer
Jamestown, RI — Conanicut Island Sailing Foundation (CISF) announces the continued partnership with Lila Delman Compass for sponsorship of its summer 2025 season of Community Free Sailing.
The Lila Delman Compass sponsorship will support multiple opportunities throughout the summer of 2025 for people of all ages to get on the water and learn how to sail at no charge to participants through CISF’s Community Free Sailing Program.
“Lila Delman Compass’ partnership in 2024 supporting CISF and their mission to offer free sailing for local families and surrounding communities was a huge success,” commented Molly McDonough, Sales Associate in Lila Delman Compass’ Jamestown Office. “The initiative and grant not only supported CISF but boosted our volunteerism among our fellow Lila Delman Compass colleagues, paying it forward to those who have locally supported us. We are honored and proud to have the opportunity to support such a great cause again this year!”
Community Free Sailing is one of CISF’s longest running programs and has enabled hundreds of Jamestown residents and visitors to enjoy the bay and learn to sail since the program launched in 2006. The continuedpartnership with Lila Delman Compass helps CISF to continue successfully delivering this popular program to the Jamestown community.
Meg Myles, CISF’s Executive Director, expressed enthusiasm about the ongoing partnership, stating, “2025 is CISF’s 25th Anniversary, and Free Sailing, started in 2006, is one of our longest running programs. We are delighted to have Lila Delman Compass again sponsor this program. This important partnership makes the joy of sailing accessible to our community, and underscores our commitment to provide unique opportunities for people to learn and engage with our coastal environment!”
Community Free Sailing Program Sponsored by Lila Delman Compass will run from July 9 through August 13, every Wednesday from 4:30-6:30 pm from the boat ramp at Fort Getty in Jamestown, RI. WHAT TO BRING
If you have a life jacket, please bring one. CISF has life jackets on-site for use if you do not have one.
Please be prepared to get wet. Launching (getting started sailing) from the beach requires getting your feet wet to get onto the boats. Having a towel and maybe even a change of clothes is always nice for after sailing.
It is always cooler on the water. Having a sweatshirt or jacket is smart. Sailing cold is no fun! (The water isn’t usually warm until late July.)

Free Sailing will be cancelled if there are thunderstorms and/or heavy rain. If thunderstorms are imminent, we will cancel. There are no make-up free sailing days. Cancellations will be posted on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CISFSailing/
Waivers must be signed for each person who goes sailing. (This happens on site.) All who participate must be able to swim. Kids must be 5 years old or older to participate.
This program is open to all – ages 5- 105!
There can be a wait to go sailing. Sailing times are dependent on the number of people waiting. 20 minutes is our target for the shortest amount of time each person will go sailing for.
