Free Sailing is cancelled this evening, July 24, due to the weather (& lack of wind).
We will hold an additional evening on Monday, August 5 from 4:30-6:30 to make up for this cancellation.
The Conanicut Island Sailing Foundation has provided the Jamestown Community with an opportunity to get out on the water and learn some sailing basics for more than a decade. Free Sailing takes place on Wednesday evenings from 4:30-6:30 from the Fort Getty Boat Ramp. No prior experience is needed. There is an instructor on each sailboat (mandatory).
Free Sailing will start back up in summer July 10, 2024.
Free Sailing takes place every Wednesday for six weeks starting July 10 and ending August 14.
Sign up for reminders and any changes due to weather.
Here’s how:
Free Sailing will be cancelled if there are thunderstorms and/or heavy rain. If thunderstorms are imminent, we will cancel. There are no make-up free sailing days. Cancellations will be posted on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CISFSailing/
Waivers must be signed for each person who goes sailing. (This happens on site.) All who participate must be able to swim. Kids must be 5 years old or older to participate.
This program is open to all – ages 5- 105!
There can be a wait to go sailing. Sailing times are dependent on the number of people waiting. 20 minutes is our target for the shortest amount of time each person will go sailing for.
What to Bring
If you have a life jacket, please bring one. CISF has life jackets on-site for use if you do not have one.
Please be prepared to get wet. Launching (getting started sailing) from the beach requires getting your feet wet to get onto the boats. Having a towel and maybe even a change of clothes is always nice for after sailing.
